Pitcher Amanda Knopf (Jr., Boulder, Colo.) helped the Macalester softball team get the season off to a 4-0 start by winning three games Friday and Saturday (March 11-12) in Clermont, Florida. In the season opener Friday, Knopf tossed a nine-hit shutout as the Scots blanked Oswego State (N.Y.) 7-0. She then pitched a couple innings of relief in Friday’s 8-7 comeback win over St. Joseph (Conn.). On the second day of the trip, Knopf pitched the Scots to a 6-2 win over New England College (Me.) by striking out seven batters.
