Johana Brower joined the Macalester tennis staff as assistant coach in the fall of 2025. Brower was a four-year member of the women’s tennis team at St. Cloud State, where she compiled a singles record of 37-22. Brower also posted a doubles record of 26-36 while playing primarily at No. 1 doubles for the Huskies, who made the NSIC conference tournament in three out of her four years in St. Cloud. She is also one of just seven players in the program’s history to have a winning streak of 12 or more singles matches.

Alongside her playing career, Brower has been coaching tennis for the past 10 years prior to joining the Scots. She has provided instruction at the Country Club of Sioux Falls and at Sta-FIT in Sartell, Minn., served as the lead tennis instructor for the Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation, and has been an independent private coach.

A native of Sioux Falls, S.D., Brower was a five-time team state champion from 2016-20 as a member of the Lincoln High School girls’ tennis team. Individually, she was all-conference four times and received the South Dakota Argus Leader Sports Award in 2019.

Brower graduated from St. Cloud State in 2025 with a degree in entrepreneurship while minoring in management. She earned a spot on the Academic All-NSIC team as a junior and senior for posting a grade point average of at least 3.6.
