Devyn Smith was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success and Development in June of 2022. Along with serving as the department's NCAA Diversity and Inclusion Designee, the chair of Macalester Athletics' DEI committee and the coordinator for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Smith has implemented and now coordinates the Scots LEAD program.
Smith joined the Macalester Athletics staff as an Operations Assistant in March of 2020. She has been a part of the department's leadership team while assisting with the general operations of the department. During the 2021-22 academic year, Smith spearheaded the department's transition to Teamworks, an engagement platform that connects student-athletes, coaches and administrators to streamline communications.
Prior to Macalester, Smith spent four years working at College Possible, a national non-profit organization committed to college access and success.
A 2013 graduate of UW-Eau Claire, Smith earned a Bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in family studies. She was a member of the Blugolds’ women’s basketball team as a student assistant after an injury ended her athletic career. Smith also holds a Change Management Professional Certificate from Michigan State University. In the spring of 2022, she earned a Master's of Education degree in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington.
A native of Roseville, Minn., Smith was an all-state high jumper at Roseville Area High School, where she also played basketball and soccer.
