Sofia Shaw is a Macalester alumna, having graduated with a degree in Hispanic Studies and History in 2009. An All-American, she set numerous program records during her four years as a student-athlete.
Shaw played her first two years at Macalester in the field, securing school records in season and single-game field blocks. In her junior and senior seasons, Shaw played and excelled at goalie. She earned All-American honors and secured the school record in season saves.
After graduating from Macalester, Shaw taught English in Spain for a year before returning to the Twin Cities to start work as a paralegal. During this time, she joined the Macalester coaching staff. Sofia earned her paralegal certification from Hamline in May 2014. Currently, she is a bilingual paralegal at Barnes & Thornburg LLC in Minneapolis.
Shaw attended high school at Stadium High School in Tacoma, Wash., where she was a 4-year varsity swimmer and water polo player. She earned four varsity letters, started three years at goalie, and helped her team advance to the state tournament all four years.
