Being at Macalester has required me to push myself every day to be a better person, academically, athletically, and in other areas. I have found and created communities for myself that allow me to be myself while encouraging me to grow.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
Running for Macalester has given me a sense of stability that I have really come to value. I know that no matter what, at 4:45 each day (except for Mondays!) I get to be with a group of amazing women who supports me no matter what. My practice and competition schedule help me stay focused - I have less time to procrastinate - and have taught me how to balance responsibilities. Additionally, being a part of these teams has exposed me to individuals that I might not have met otherwise. Being in such a diverse group has opened my eyes to new interests and issues; I am constantly learning from my coaches and teammates.

Being a student-athlete has taught me how to balance multiple commitments, and the importance of creating time to do the things you love.
