Why did you choose to attend Macalester?
I wanted to attend a school where the class sizes were small and I wouldn't just be one in the crowd of thousands of students. When I toured Macalester and met some of the students I felt like it was a real community that I could be involved in. Being able to swim for Macalester was the cherry on top.

What has your experience at Macalester meant to you?
My experience at Macalester so far has meant the world to me. I think that the first year of college can be a really formative time in your life and Macalester definitely lives up to that. Being on the swim and dive team made transitioning to college so much easier and a lot more fun. I can't imagine what my first year would've been like without it.

How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
I think that being a student-athlete at Macalester has made me a more outgoing person. I was very shy growing up, so sports were a way for me to make friends. At Macalester, the team has created a very supportive and welcoming environment where everyone can feel comfortable with being themselves.

How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?
I have gained a lot of confidence in myself over the course of my time as a student athlete at Mac and I think this is the first of many skills required to be successful in my life after graduation. I started at Mac as a swimmer for my first two years and then switched to diving. Learning an entirely different sport and then competing with other amazing athletes had a steep learning curve. Diving was something I thought I would never be able to do, so putting in the hard work to learn it really showed the importance of believing in yourself and gave me a lot of confidence in my ability to accomplish something when I put my mind to it.
