Why did you choose to attend Macalester?
I chose Macalester because of its rigorous academics, incredible athletic atmosphere, and prime location in the Twin Cities.
What has your experience at Macalester meant to you so far?
My experience at Macalester has taught be a lot about myself both academically and pre-professionally. Coming into college I had a fairly clear idea of what I wanted to do post-graduation but I wasn't entirely sure on the details. My experience at Macalester thus far has not only reaffirmed my idea of what I wanted to do after college but also has helped me clarify some of the details.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
My experience as a student-athlete at Macalester has taught me that it's okay to ask for help. Balancing both school and a varsity sport can be very challenging in college and balancing those two things has taught me that it is okay to ask a professor/coach/teammate/etc. for help when you feel like you need it.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?
My experience as a student-athlete at Mac has taught me so many crucial skills for life after Mac. I think the most important of which is the ability to manage my time effectively despite having so many things going on. In a lot of ways, specifically time commitment, being an athlete rivals having a part time job so learning how to balance my actual job, swimming, and classes without letting performance in any of them suffer will be key to success in grad school and my professional life. Naturally, I have no intention of doing only one thing so being able to practice juggling many things at once has been very important.
