How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?
There are obvious and measurable benefits of having the experience of being a student-athlete at Macalester, including time management, leadership and teamwork skills, value for health and well-being, and the connections that can be made through the athletic community. However, I think what I value most about my experience as a student-athlete is more intangible and personal. I have moved through four years at Mac with a community of people who have seen me at my very best and very worst, and my respect for them and for myself has continually motivated me to be better, within and beyond my athletics. Being a part of a team means functioning within a support network that expects something of, and therefore you come to expect more of yourself. I have been challenged by my experience as an athlete here, but I believe growth has been the product of those efforts.
