Why I chose Macalester:
Coming out of high school, I knew I wanted to continue to play soccer at a high level. I also knew I wanted a college experience that included all of my passions, not just soccer. When I visited Mac, I met so many incredible, talented, well-rounded, friendly people, all of whom seemed to have found a way to pursue multiple interests. Now that I'm here, I've been able to play soccer, succeed academically, get involved in the music department, and do other activities, all with a group of wonderful people that I don't think I could've met anywhere else.
What Macalester has meant to me:
To me, the best thing about this place is the constant challenge. It's not a competitive, intimidating challenge, it's an exciting, enriching challenge. Everyone you meet has something to offer, a new perspective. On the soccer field, in the classroom, and everywhere in the Mac community I am constantly encouraged to look at things in a different way. I sometimes learn as much from conversations with friends in Cafe Mac as I do from a lecture from one of our world-class professors. At Mac, I know I'm getting a multi-faceted education, one that includes plenty of studying, soccer, self-reflection, fun with friends, and opportunities to contribute to and enhance the wonderful school that is Macalester.
