Why did you choose to attend Macalester?
I chose Macalester because of the education I knew I would receive here. The atmosphere on campus, attitude towards school, and the drive to build students as people is exactly what I wanted in my college. Also, being able to play both soccer and water polo at the collegiate level was a definite draw for me.
What has your experience at Macalester meant to you so far?
To me, Macalester has meant a home. It has meant excellence. It has meant taking the next step (or two!) in my life. It has meant relationships, with both friends and faculty. It has meant life tools, in and out of the classroom. And what all this means, most of all, is that Macalester will continue to mean all of these things for me in the future.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
This is for all the Mac athletes out there: Body by Steve!
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?
Being a student-athlete at Macalester has been a enjoyable and fruitful experience. It has taught me many things that maybe should have been obvious, like cars are real and ranch is more than a salad dressing. But it has also taught me things that I will continue to cherish in my life after Macalester. I have learned to value personal dedication and time management skills. I am now prepared to step into leadership without fear, work with people to achieve a common goal, and persevere when things get difficult. Macalester's commitment to me has prepared me to realize a commitment to myself.
