Sara Schoenthaler joins the Macalester women’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach this season. Shoenthaler is familiar with the MIAC, having played at Saint Mary’s University from 2011-15. This past year, she served as an assistant coach for the varsity and junior varsity girls’ basketball teams at White Bear Lake High School, helping the Bears reach the state tournament.
A teammate of Macalester assistant coach Courtney Euerle’s at Saint Mary’s, Schoenthaler was a member of the Cardinals team that won the MIAC and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2014. As a senior she made 27 three-pointers while averaging 5.3 points per game.
Schoenthaler grew up in White Bear Lake and played for the Bears, graduating in 2011. At Saint Mary’s, she was a marketing and human resources management major and a three-time Academic All-MIAC honoree. Schoenthaler currently works in communications.
