What has your experience at Macalester meant to you so far?
My experience at Macalester has encouraged me to change the way I approach areas of disagreement. Rubbing shoulders with people who may have significantly different life experiences, opinions, and beliefs has encouraged me to examine all sides of an argument before coming to a conclusion. Having met so many new people has reminded me that diversity of opinion and experience is something to be actively encouraged and that no progress is possible without listening to the other side of the table. I've been able to meet so many interesting people and branch out in directions I hadn't expected as an incoming first year.
