Softball Head Coach

Tom Cross

Tom Cross is in his eighth year as head softball coach at Macalester.

Cross is hopeful for a positive campaign as the Scots have a young and talented team ready to go for the 2011 season.

Cross served as head softball coach at Concordia University – St. Paul, from 1983 to 1997. Under Cross’ leadership, Concordia won nine conference championships and earned several NAIA playoff bids. He was also twice named UMAC Coach of the Year and in 1987 was named region Coach of the Year. In 1987, Concordia made the NAIA national tournament.

In 2008 at Macalester, Cross won his 300th game as a collegiate head coach. At Macalester, Cross’ teams have had the No. 1 GPA of all Division III softball teams in the nation in 2006 and 2008. In 2009, seven players made the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) / Girls Got Game All-America Scholar-Athlete team.

Cross is in two athletic hall of fames: Concordia University – St. Paul Hall of Fame, and Mancini’s St. Paul Hall of Fame.

Coach Cross has a BA from Concordia University-St. Paul and resides in St. Paul.
