Biography

Why I chose Macalester:
"I was attracted to Macalester because of the incredibly strong academic reputation as well as the emphasis on diversity, the amazing campus in the heart two safe and vibrant cites, and of course the soccer program. When I visited, Coach Barker and all of the players welcomed me whole-heartedly, which is something I didn’t encounter on all of my other visits. I wanted to grow academically, mentally, and as a soccer player and Macalester is the perfect place for me to accomplish all three."

What Macalester has meant to me:
Macalester thus far has been everything I thought it would be. From the classroom, to the soccer pitch and everywhere in between I have truly enjoyed and embraced my new life here at Mac. In my first year here I’ve realized just how unique Macalester is. I have made countless new connections with people from all walks of life from all corners of the world. The size and layout of the campus makes me feel secure and linked to those around me, yet its location allows me easy access to the many wonders in and around the Twin Cities. The academics here at Macalester are rigorous and require a great deal of time and effort, however the professors are extremely accessible and are always willing to help. My experience with the soccer team rounded off an incredible first year at Macalester. The support of the soccer program here by the student body is unparalleled by any other school in America. Stepping onto the field in front of our electric fans at home games is one of the greatest feelings in the world. It makes all the hard work we put in during trainings entirely worthwhile.

How Macalester has shaped me as an individual:
As a student-athlete at Macalester, I've learned a great deal about time management. Juggling class, labs, homework and studying is challenging enough on its own, and when trainings and workouts are added into the mix, life can seem a little overwhelming. I had to quickly learn efficient time management skills which allowed myself to keep all facets of my life running smoothly. Knowing how to manage my time has been immensely important thus far in my collegiate experience, and undoubtedly will continue to help me with whatever I choose to pursue in life.
