Why did you choose to attend Macalester?
From the very first time I visited campus, I knew Mac was the school for me. Macalester grants me the opportunity to study at a prestigious liberal arts college while also playing for a top-notch soccer program. With engaging classroom environments and a soccer program that values tradition and history, Macalester is everything I want in my college experience. I look forward to learning more about Mac, as well as myself, on and off the field for the next four years.
What has your experience at Macalester meant to you so far?
Macalester has gradually become a second home to me. I have met so many wonderful people here who routinely make me feel safe, supported, and loved. I am very grateful that Macalester is part of my life.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
Being a student-athlete at Macalester has forced me to be aware of the impact I can have on a given community. Knowing that I represent my teammates, coaching staff, and the soccer program as whole, I have learned that every action I take should be reflective of what our school values. I hope I can use this understanding to help me contribute to any community that I am a part of in the future.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?
Over the past three years, I've learned the importance of enjoying the process instead of living in the result. As an incoming first-year, I stated that I wanted to learn more about myself during my time here. So far, I've found that when I place too much importance on the result of something that I attempt to do–whether it be with soccer, class, etc– I'm taking a gamble on my happiness because there's no way to guarantee a certain outcome. But when I take the time to live through that process and try to experience everything in those moments, I walk away feeling much more content. I hope this way of thinking and living will help me with any challenges I take on after I leave Macalester.
