Why I chose Macalester:
"I decided to come to Macalester because it offered an outstanding academic level and classroom experience, combined with a diverse but close community. I grew up in a city so Macalester was the perfect setting where I would be close to the Twin Cities but would still feel part of the Macalester family. Also, as an international student, Macalester offers a great opportunity for me to have a better understanding of the diversity of the United States while giving me a space to share my 'Guatemalanness'; not to forget the competitive futbol (soccer) program that allows me to continue playing 'the beautiful game' at a great level."

What Macalester has meant to me so far:
“The past two years at Macalester have been great for me. It has been the perfect environment for me to develop academically, athletically and personally. I feel close to the Macalester community and I recognize the value in a diverse student body where the strength lies in using education to promote international understanding. The academic level is challenging and rewarding as well as the soccer program which only motivates me more to look forward to this year's season. Also, the new Leonard Center and the Institute for Global Citizenship show how Macalester gives priority to its community by improving the facilities and services offered to students and staff as best as possible."
