Earned 2013 All-Conference Honorable Mention playing for Boylan Catholic… AP Scholar with Honor… Selected as an Illinois State Scholar… President's Education Award… Number 6 GPA in graduating class.

Why did you choose to attend Macalester?
I chose to attend Macalester because it was the best fit for me academically, athletically, and socially.  Mac is a great place for people of many backgrounds to come together and form one student body, which is one of the unique things about the college that drew me to it.

What has your experience at Macalester meant to you so far?
To pick one of the many things I have learned over the past year, I would say my experience at Macalester has made me more focused. Being away from home and in charge of everything you do really sharpens your focus and makes you think about what you are doing and why you are doing it. Macalester has done a great job of pointing me in the right direction after my first year.     

How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
Being a student-athlete has played an important role in my life here at Macalester.  Most notably, it has forced me to learn and practice time management skills that I could not survive without.  Balancing academics and athletics--and having enough energy for both--takes a lot of effort, and I know that having this experience will help me throughout my life.  
 
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?
Being a student-athlete at Macalester taught me how to fail.  Whether it is coming up short on your off-season training goals or not getting as much playing time as you would like, playing soccer here has shown me what it feels like to give everything you've got to something and not get what you hoped you would.  I am so grateful for the role that being a student-athlete has had in providing me with failures to overcome.  Obstacles are going to come throughout life, often times out of nowhere, and learning how I respond to them is something I never thought would come out of playing soccer here. It has truly been a life-changing experience.
