Why did you choose to attend Macalester?
I first heard of Mac when they sent me funny emails, which caused me to look up the school. Impressed and encouraged by a waived application fee, I decided to apply. Once accepted I had to choose between my two highest rated schools Macalester and the University of Michigan. The small size, soccer potential, and strongest areas of study suited me best here at Mac, so it was the logical choice.

What has your experience at Macalester meant to you so far?
Macalester is wonderful. I appreciate my professors and classmates for pushing me academically and my coaches and teammates for sharing my passion for soccer. Perhaps most of all I find Macalester's worldview and sense of humor it's most endearing qualities, which emanate from all of the people I see every day.

How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
For me playing on the Mac soccer team requires persistence, humility, and a competitive drive. My experience so far has made those qualities a part of who I am. I have yet to play on the first team myself because of Zeke and Colton's superior goalkeeping, which has required a degree of humility. I hope my persistence to keep working and contributing to the team as much as possible at practice has helped instill a positive team culture and made the team as competitive as possible. The importance of a strong team culture is another lesson of being on this team, as I understand that the culture has seen perhaps the most improvement since Coach Olson arrived. It's what makes me most proud to be a part of this team.

How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?
As a student-athlete I've made a lot of friends that I will have for the rest of my life. I've developed healthy exercise and diet habits. I've also had the privilege to play the best game in the world according to most of the world, which always helps me make friends anywhere I go. I hope to play soccer for a few more decades. It's social, it's fun, it's healthy, and I hope to play as long as I can at any level.
