Macalester College Athletics

Why I chose Macalester:
Making my decision about where I wanted to go to school became fairly easy after I decided that I was more interested in a division III school than division I. I realized that Macalester had the most to offer me both academically and athletically. It also was going to place me directly in the middle of two major cities, which was very important to me. Being a city kid, coming from Portland and before that Seattle, I did not want to be stuck in the middle nowhere. But the academics of Macalester are what attracted me most. I have no plans of playing professionally after college so I was looking for a school that would promote academics first and athletics second. This said Macalester also has a very competitive soccer program. After winning the MIAC last year and making it to the second round of the NCAA Championships we are looking to improve this year. The quality of play is extremely high here and with everyone always pushing each other to be better the environment is very good here. Once I had taken all of this into account and after meeting so many friendly and interesting people here it seemed tough to turn down a place with so much to offer.

What Macalester has meant to me:
Macalester has proved to be an interesting environment where I am always meeting new and unique people.
