Madigan has served as an assistant coach with the Macalester men's soccer team since 2012. He is also an assistant manager for the Leonard Center.

Madigan was a four-year goalkeeper for the Macalester men's soccer team. During his time from 1999-2003, Macalester won three MIAC Championships while participating in three NCAA tournaments, and the 2002 NCAA Elite Eight. Madigan was a senior captain, team MVP, All-MIAC, All-Region, and finished third in the nation in goals against average. After his 2003 graduation, Madigan spent two seasons as a reserve goalkeeper with the Minnesota Thunder.

9428In the fall of 2005, Mike accepted his first full-time coaching position at Shattuck-St.Mary's School and Soccer Academy in Faribault, MN. During his four years at Shattuck, Madigan helped the Soccer Center of Excellence grow from zero to 100 student-athletes. Highlights of his time include serving as an assistant coach with the 2008 U18 US Youth Soccer National Finalists and Region II Champions, and coaching over 30 players that would go on to play NCAA Division I soccer.

In the summer of 2009, Madigan moved to Washington D.C. to serve as an assistant coach with the men's team at Division I George Washington University. He also spent two seasons as the Head Coach of McLean Youth Soccer's U16 US Soccer Development Academy team. In 2011, George Washington was the Atlantic 10 regular season champion and a conference tournament finalist.

While in Minnesota, Madigan has been active as both a state and regional Olympic Development Program (ODP) coach. This includes coaching Minnesota state teams to regional final appearances in 2007 and 2013. Mike also coaches for St. Paul Blackhawks Soccer Club. He holds a US Soccer "A" License, an NSCAA "Advanced National" Diploma, and an NSCAA "Advanced National Goalkeeping" Diploma.
