Honors:
MIAC Academic All-Conference - Fall 2009, Fall 2010
Why I chose Macalester:
I decided to attend Mac for a number of reasons. First of all, Mac has an excellent academic reputation. I was sure that I wanted a liberal arts education and Mac is a place where I know I'll receive a fantastic one. Secondly, I was looking for a small school in the city and, located in St. Paul, Mac fits that description perfectly. Thirdly, I was sure that I wanted to play soccer and Mac seemed like a great place to pursue that goal. Mac was the all around best fit for me.
What Macalester has meant to me:
Macalester has meant a great deal to me thus far. Over the past year, Macalester has gone from being my school to my home. From the soccer team, to my professors, to the student body, I can't help but feel encouraged to be the best person that I can possibly be. The academics are rigorous, but I truly feel that the past year has been the most valuable and engaging of my academic career. As far as soccer is concerned, I could not be happier with the team nor the coaching staff. I have never been a part of such a cohesive group of individuals and am truly honored to have the privilege of playing with such fine people.
Macalester through Junior Year:
As my junior year at Macalester fast approaches, I can’t help but look back on my two previous years here and smile. Macalester has taken me so many unexpected places, and for that I am truly grateful. This school, from the faculty and staff to the student body, has played a huge role in expanding my world-view and allowing me to become a more open-minded and understanding person. I fully anticipate that the next year will be just as good, if not better than the previous two and I’m very much looking forward to the upcoming semester, both academically and athletically. After winning the conference tournament last year, I have extremely high hopes for the upcoming season. I feel that we have the potential to achieve great things, especially which such a great group of guys. I said it last year and I’d like to reiterate that I have never been part of a team with such a cohesive group of individuals until coming to Macalester and find myself fortunate to be involved in such a program.
How Macalester Soccer has prepared me for life after graduation:
Balancing academics and athletics at Macalester has taught me many valuable lessons that will remain with me after graduation. Due to the rigorous academic atmosphere coupled with the large time commitment that athletic participation demands, I have found that proper time management is paramount for success both on and off the field; this skill is something that will stick with me well beyond my time at Mac. Furthermore, working with others to achieve a common goal is an invaluable skill that can be applied in a plethora of environments outside of athletics, and participation in the Macalester Soccer program has certainly helped me to hone this skill. Finally, my time playing soccer at Mac has allowed me to forge friendships that I'm sure will last a lifetime.
