Macalester College Athletics

As a Scot
Member of the Dean’s List… Participated in Macalester Chorale… Conducted the pit orchestra for the school’s musical… Studying abroad in Amsterdam in 2020… Interned at the Autism Society of Minnesota, as well as working at Camp Knutson.

2019
Participated in three races for the Scots… Finished the 8k Blugold Invitational with a time of 39:57 on Oct. 4. 

2018
Participated in three races during his sophomore year… Posted a PR at the MIAC Championships on Oct. 27, completing the 8k course in 29:35.  

2017
Competed in six races throughout his rookie season… Started the year with the Augsburg Open 5k, finishing in 21:00… Took 26^th at the Summit Cup on Sept. 21, finishing the four-mile course in 26:15… Recorded his best 8k time at the MIAC Championships on Oct. 28 (31:52).

Why did you choose to attend Macalester?
I chose to attend Macalester because of the great academics, the team and coach, the emphasis on community service and making the world a better place, and the Twin Cities.

How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
My experience as a student-athlete at Macalester has helped me develop a strong work ethic and sense of teamwork. Balancing academics, athletics, and other activities has taught me how to properly manage my time. Working hard to further my team's success has taught me to be part of something bigger than myself.

How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?
My experience as a student-athlete at Macalester has taught me how to better be a positive leader in my community. In addition, I have learned the importance of patience and perspective while tackling long-term goals. Finally, my coaches and teammates have helped foster an enduring passion for running that will stay with me after my time and Mac and for the rest of my life.
