Coach Connell joined the Macalester staff two seasons ago following seventeen years as a head high school coach, including twelve at Edina High School. During his successful tenure at Edina, Coach Connell coached such standouts as Greg Buth, later All-Ivy League at Dartmouth, and future All-MIAC players Kevin Buth and Jimmy Sioris, as well as current Minnesota Viking offensive lineman Adam Goldberg.
Coach Connell graduated in 1984 from St. John's University, where he was a basketball team captain, and received his M.A. in Education from the University of St. Thomas in 1997. He currently teaches Advanced Placement U.S. History and Contemporary Issues at Edina High School.
Coach Connell lives in Edina with his wife Julie and sons John and Jimmy.
