Peter Zurn is entering his fourth season as an assistant coach at Macalester College. Last year, Zurn spent a year as an assistant coach at Henry Sibley High School in Medota Heights, Minn., after three seasons with the Scots.
Immediately following his playing career at Champlin Park High School, Zurn began focusing on his passion for coaching. He has spent the last six years coaching AAU basketball, most recently with Minnesota Fury.
While there he has lead his team to Final Four appearances in the Jayhawk Invite (Lawrence, Kan.), the Under Armour JamFest (Pittsburgh, Pa.), and the Las Vegas Classic (Las Vegas, Nev.). His team is also the two-time defending regular season, and post season Sanford League Champions.
“I am thrilled to have Pete on our staff for his extensive club experience in Minnesota, statistical analysis background and enthusiasm surrounding his on-court coaching,” Macalester head coach Tim Whittle said.
Since graduating from Mankato State University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education, Zurn has worked at AFSA High School in Vadnais Heights, Minn. He currently resides in Inver Grove Heights, Minn., with his wife, Andrea.
