Jay Anderson serves as the Macalester College men’s basketball program assistant coach and Assistant Manager of the Leonard Center. 

Anderson was most recently a graduate assistant manager with the University of Oregon men’s basketball program for the 2010-11 season. Anderson worked closely with the team’s director of operations, while assisting in other day-to-day operations of the team.

Anderson was a center for the Oregon Ducks from 2000-04, playing in 105 career games in his four years at UO. He was a sophomore on the 2002 squad that advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s Midwest Regional Final. An excellent student, he was also twice recognized as a Pac-10 Conference All-Academic honoree.

Following his playing career at Oregon, Anderson competed professionally from 2004-09 with club teams in Germany (SB DJK Rosenheim), Romania (BC Mures Targu-Mures), Australia (Bundaberg Bulls), New Zealand (Otago Nuggets) and Luxemburg (BBC US Hiefenech Heffingen).  After his professional career concluded, he was a coach and trainer for the Seattle-based AAU program, Emerald City Basketball Academy in 2009-10.

Before coming to Eugene as an undergraduate, Anderson was a McDonald’s All-America nominee and all-state performer for Faribault High School from 1996-2000 in Faribault, Minn. For his prep career, he tallied 1,173 points and grabbed 750 rebounds.

Anderson received his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2004 and recently completed a master’s degree in educational leadership at University of Oregon. Anderson is married to the former Kelsey Petermeier of Grand Rapids, Minn., and they are proud parents of daughter Grace, born in January 2012 and son, Oliver born in September 2014.
