Conner Nord begins his seventh season on staff at Macalester. After being hired as an assistant coach in 2018, he was promoted to associate head coach in 2022 and has helped to increase the Scots’ winning percentage in each of his first five seasons at Macalester.
"We are so lucky to have Conner at Macalester," head coach Abe Woldeslassie '08 said. "Conner was a tremendous student-athlete and has an outstanding work ethic. He is an excellent recruiter and has a great ability to connect with people. Conner is passionate about the game and has helped take our program to new heights.”
At Macalester, Nord serves as the team’s defensive and recruiting coordinator. He is also involved with opponent scouting and player development while assisting with all other aspects of the Scots’ program. In addition to his basketball responsibilities, Nord is also involved in Scots LEAD, a student-athlete leadership development program at Macalester.
Before arriving at Macalester, he served as an assistant coach at Carleton College for two seasons. During his time at Carleton, Nord contributed to two playoff appearances, facilitated the development of two professional players, and was involved in recruiting and opponent scouting.
Nord graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 2015 with a degree in health promotion, and went on to earn a Master's degree in sports management from Concordia-St. Paul in 2018. At St. Thomas, he was a four-year letterwinner and two-time team captain. He played in 117 games, scoring over 1,000 points and grabbing over 600 rebounds. After graduating from St. Thomas, Nord played professionally in Germany for one season.
A native of Eden Prairie, Minn., Nord helped lead the Eden Prairie Eagles to the 2011 Class 4A championship game and the best finish in school history. During his senior year, he was named all-conference and academic all-state, while earning a spot on the Minnesota State High School League all-tournament team.
