Macalester College Athletics

Paula Natvig begins her 23rd year as Head Athletic Trainer at Macalester College. She serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Student Well-Being, Head Athletic Trainer and Senior Woman Administrator. Paula oversees the athletic department's sports medicine and sport performance efforts.

A 1998 graduate of Minnesota State University-Moorhead with a B.S. in Fitness and Sport Science, Paula was certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association that same year. Paula attended the University of New Mexico and earned her Master's of Arts degree in Sports Administration while working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the Lobos. In 1999 Paula joined the staff at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces as an assistant athletic trainer. In her four years at NMSU, Paula was the athletic trainer assigned to the Aggies volleyball and women's basketball teams. She also supervised the students in the Athletic Training Education Program and was an instructor for two courses in the program.

In 2003, Paula moved back to her home state of Minnesota and started her stint at Macalester College. She is in charge of the overall care of all the Scots varsity athletes as well as the supervision of Sports Medicine Assistants (SMA's).

Other activities that Paula is involved in include: Macalester Athletics Leadership Team, Macaleter Scots Care Team, MIAC Health and Safety Subcommittee, CPR Instructor for the American Red Cross, and membership in the Minnesota Athletic Trainer's Association and the National Athletic Trainers Association.
