Zach Hauser returned to Macalester as an assistant coach for the defensive line in 2018. A standout defensive lineman for the Scots from 2012-15, Hauser was a two-time All-Midwest Conference honoree. As a senior, he was named the conference's Defensive Line MVP while earning a spot on the All-West Region third team after leading the team with 66 tackles and 3.0 sacks. Hauser also was included on the USA College Football Division III All-American first team. He finished his career with 137 total tackles, eight sacks, 22.5 tackles for loss, and one rushing touchdown, a two-yard plunge in his final game in the Orange and Blue.
Hauser graduated from Macalester in 2016 after majoring in geography with an urban studies concentration. He returned to his native Port Washington, Wis., and coached in the youth football program. Hauser previously worked for State Farm and now operates his own agency, Hauser Insurance.
