    Assistant Football Coach - Defensive Adviser
Phil Archer is back for his fifth season with the Scots, serving as a defensive adviser for the third straight year. A former standout at Cretin-Derham Hall High School, he played at the Division I and professional levels before an injury ended his career.
 
Archer earned three letters at the University of Minnesota and participated in the Sun Bowl, MicronPC.com Bowl and Music City Bowl with the Gophers. After earning a degree in kinesiology at Minnesota, he played one season at Western Illinois, making the All-Gateway Conference second team. That year the Leathernecks advance to the national semifinals. Archer was drafted to NFL Europe in 2005 and helped the Amsterdam Admirals win the NFL Europe World Bowl Championship. Following stints with the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad and the San Diego Chargers, he suffered a career-ending injury in 2006.
 
Archer returned to Cretin-Derham Hall in 2017 as the school's athletic director.
