Nolan Richardson was added to the Macalester football coaching staff in the summer of 2025 as the Scots’ offensive line coach. Richardson spent the previous four seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Northwestern in Roseville, Minn.
At Northwestern, Richardson was the linebackers coach for the 2021 season before serving as the Eagles’ offensive line coach and run game coordinator for three seasons. During that time nine of his offensive linemen earned All-UMAC honors, and the offense was ranked first in the conference in 2023 and 2024. In 2024, his line blocked for a running back that ranked eighth in Division III in rushing yards. Additionally, Richardson’s recruiting efforts helped the Eagles bring in over 100 new players over three years. He began his coaching career at Bethel University, his alma mater, as an assistant offensive line coach in 2019.
Richardson was a standout center at Bethel, earning All-MIAC first team honors as a junior and senior. As a senior in 2018 he helped the Royals advance to the third round of the NCAA Playoffs while earning a spot on the D3football.com All-West Region third team.
A 2019 graduate of Bethel, Richardson majored in finance and business/data analytics. He currently works at Chase as a Senior Client Insights Analyst.
