Marc Davies enters his 10th year on the Macalester staff and his sixth as the offensive coordinator. Prior to assuming his role leading the Scot offense, Davies served as the team’s special teams coordinator.

Under Davies’ leadership, the offense has set the three major single-season school records: total yards (2014), rushing yards (2014) and passing yards (2017). In 2014, Davies led an efficient offense that accumulated 2,000 yards rushing and 2,000 yards passing. That year, quarterback Samson Bialostok was named the Midwest Conference Offensive Skill MVP and running back Zandy Stowell set a school record with 1,293 rushing yards. In 2016, the explosive offense featured an aerial attack that saw four wide receivers catch at least 20 passes apiece.

In 2017, the offense broke the school passing record for the second straight season and was the top ranked passing offense in the MWC. It featured five players with 25 catches or more and three wide receivers with over 500 receiving yards. Last year, Christian Adams broke the school records for completions, total yards and touchdowns in a season by a quarterback, and his teammate, Alec Beatty, broke the single-season record for receiving yards and touchdowns.

As special teams coordinator for the Scots, Davies led Macalester to several top-25 national rankings. In 2012, the Scots ranked 18th in punt returns and 21st for punt return defense.  During his first four seasons coaching the offensive line, Davies helped an offense that set more than 10 team historical records. Prior to his time at Macalester, Davies spent time as an assistant coach at Hamline University. He coached the offensive line during the 2003 and 2004 seasons. He then coached the tight ends for the 2005 season with the Pipers.

Davies was a standout tight end in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) during his time at St. Olaf College. He was a three- time all-conference performer, All-American Honorable Mention and team captain. Following his collegiate career, Davies spent one year as a professional player and coach in Europe.

Davies earned his Bachelor of Arts in psychology from St. Olaf in 2002 and completed his Master of Science in Exercise Science and Health Promotion in 2010. He lives in St. Paul with his wife Laurisa and daughter Leeloo.
