Jim Carlson enters his third season with the Scots and brings an impressive coaching resume. Originally from Verndale, Minn., Carlson graduated from Bemidji State University, where he played free safety and earned all-conference and team MVP honors.
Carlson began his coaching career at Bemidji High School, where he spent four years as defensive coordinator and four years as head coach. He then moved on to Shakopee High School, where he spent five years as defensive coordinator.
“Jim was the exact fit we were looking for on our staff and within our defense,” said head coach Tony Jennison. “Jim has tremendous experience, and the drive to really elevate the play of our outside linebacker position group. Working with us this past spring, he has already proven to be a strong asset to our defensive staff and team.”
Coach Carlson has a master’s degree in Sport Studies from Bemidji State and is currently a middle school physical education teacher at Shakopee Middle School. He and his wife Kori have a nine year old son Gabe and a ten month old girl Stella.
