Daymond Dean joined the Macalester coaching staff prior to the 2018 season as an assistant coach. He is currently the Operations Coordinator. Dean is a 1991 graduate of Macalester who played for the Scots for two seasons. It was his first down that clinched a 21-20 victory over St. Thomas en route to a 7-2-1 season in 1986. He also served as the team's honorary captain for the win over Carleton in 2014.
After graduating with a degree in chemistry, Dean began working in the Macalester Admissions Office as an Assistant Director of Admissions. In 1999, he left Macalester to become the Director of Alumni/ae Relations at St. Paul Academy and Summit School before returning to his alma mater as an Associate Director of Alumni Relations. Dean has served on several boards and committees at Macalester, including the M Club Board of Directors, the Alumni Board and the Staff Advisory Council, which he chaired for one term.
