David Kruger ’04 came back to Macalester to join the Scots’ coaching staff as a linebacker coach in August of 2022. Kruger graduated on the Dean's List with a major in economics and a minor in history.
As a running back for the Scots, Kruger battled through multiple injuries to eventually lead the team in both rushing and receiving yards as a senior en route to being named the team’s Offensive Player of the Year.
He has previous coaching experience at the high school level as a linebacker coach at Minnetonka, a running backs/wide receivers coach at Minneapolis Washburn, and in football operations/scouting at St. Paul Academy/Minnehaha Academy/Blake (SMB).
David and his wife, Elizabeth, also a Macalester alum, reside in Minneapolis with their two children, Greta and Ethan.
