Adam Cress is serving in his second season on the Macalester football staff as its wide receiver coach.
“Adam is an excellent person who our players really respond to,” says head football coach Tony Jennison. “As a coach he is very positive but still expects a great deal from the student-athletes. I am very pleased that he will coach our wide receivers again this fall and I am confident they will continue to make strides as a position group.”
Cress, originally from Prior Lake, Minn., was a standout in both football and baseball at Prior Lake High School. He was captain of both teams and also earned all-conference and MVP honors in both sports as well. As a quarterback his senior year, Cress amassed over 20 touchdowns on the ground and threw for another 15. He also led his team in interceptions as a free safety. Cress took his talents to Concordia-St. Paul, where he was a standout in the defensive secondary and on their special teams before a severe car accident ended his playing career.
"I am very honored and thankful for the opportunity to be part of Coach Jennison's staff and the Mac football family,” says Coach Cress. “During my short time with Mac football, I have been very impressed with the caliber of the players and coaches that I have come in contact with, on and off the field. I feel that we are surrounded by good people who have a strong work ethic, and the desire to make a difference. I am proud to be a part of this staff and I look forward to the great progress this program will make in 2009 and beyond."
