2013 – Justin Simms established himself as a regular at first base, making one error in 199 chances and hitting a solid .271 . . . had a big day in the season opener vs. St. Scholastica on 2-25-13, going 3 for 3, with two RBI . . . earned Academic All-MIAC honors . . . produced on the spring trip, with multi hit games vs. North Park University on 3-15-13 and Williams College on 3-20-13, also collected two doubles vs. Pomona-Pitzer on 3-22-13 . . . played much of the conference season with a bad ankle, but had big day in MIAC action vs. St. Olaf on 5-8-13, going 3 for 3 at the plate.
2012 – made first collegiate start vs. UW- Superior on 2-28-12 . . . first collegiate his was a double vs. Gustavus Adolphus College on 4-12-12. . . started in seven games and posted a 1.000 fielding percentage.
2011 - saw limited time as a freshman.
High School - comes to Macalester from the Bronx, N.Y., where he attended The Beacon School. . . earned All-Manhattan honors. . . hit .438 with 22 RBI in 16 games his senior year.
What I hope to do after Macalester:
After graduation I hope to work in the player operations department, specifically working with the analytics staff, of a professional sports organization.
How Macalester has prepared me:
In addition to my coursework in mathematics and economics, I conducted research with Professor Addona in the math department dealing with age effects in the MLB draft, which I feel has prepared me for a position working in sports analytics.
