Cody Ching was elected captain by his teammates for the '08 season . . . He played in 26 games as a junior and had some big hits, including a game-winning home run vs. Hamline on 4-16-07 and a late inning single to pull out the win vs. Northwestern on 3-24-07 . . . Unfortunately, he had his season cut short due to injury . . . Ching will see time at both second and first base during the '08 season. Collected his first collegiate home run vs. Allegheny on 3-25-05 . . . Cody saw action in 25 games as a freshman. Had a breakout day vs. Grinnell on 4-24-05 in which he went 3-for-3 and stole two bases . . . Had his sophomore season cut short due to a knee nagging knee injury. Cody comes to Macalester College from Olympia High School in Olympia , Washington . He was a two-time all-academic team selection in high school football, as well as receiving all league honors as a linebacker.
