Joe Shallenberger, who coached at Macalester from 2008-15, has served as an assistant coach for the Scots since 2019, focusing on infield defense and hitters. Shally played professionally for the St. Paul Saints in the Northern League and the Kalamazoo Kings in the Frontier League from 2002-2004. He is 2002 graduate of Concordia-St. Paul University, where he was a three time all-conference performer at shortstop and received Male Athlete of the Year honors his senior year. He was recently inducted into the Concordia-St. Paul Athletics Hall of Fame. Shallenberger lives in Minnetonka with his wife Katie, son Griffin and daughter Isabel.
