Ben Moore begins his second year on the Macalester baseball staff. He serves as the Scots' pitching coach while also working extensively with recruiting. Moore brings years of playing and coaching experience from the professional level to Macalester College. He recently completed a three-year stint as pitching coach for the Sioux Falls Canaries in the American Association. Moore’s experience as pitching coaching at the professional level includes stops in Loredo, Texas in the American Association (2016) and in Washington, Pa. of the Frontier League (2015).
Moore’s professional pitching career began in 2003, when he signed with the New York Yankees and worked his way up to the Double-A level in the Yankee organization. His professional playing opportunities spanned over 12 years and four continents, including stops in Australia, Colombia, and China. Moore finished out his playing career with Sioux Falls, where he became the Canaries’ all-time leader in wins and was recently inducted into their Hall of Fame.
Moore earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Viterbo University in LaCrosse, Wis., in 2003. He is the all-time wins leader at Viterbo and a member of their Hall of Fame. Moore has coached at the club level and has been involved with the Minnesota Baseball Academy (Blizzard) since 2005.
