Why did you choose to attend Macalester?
I chose to attend Macalester because it seemed like the sort of place where I could learn about anything I wanted to learn, and I could grow as a student and a member of society. The make-up of the student body and its diversity was also very important to me, and I feel as though the students of Macalester and I hold a lot of the same values. It seemed like the kind of place I would love and I can't wait for the year to start.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
Being a student-athlete at Macalester has really helped me academically when it comes to my time management. I've found that when I have less time to get things done, I am better able to manage my time and get things done in a timely manner.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?
Being a student athlete at Macalester the past four years has given me a lot of skills and strengths that I can use in the world after graduation. Diving has built up my confidence, given me opportunities to lead, and has made me feel as though I can communicate well and effectively with my superiors. Because of my time as a student athlete, I work well in groups and know how to motivate myself to achieve my personal goals, as well as support my teammates to achieve their goals. All of these things, I believe, have me well equipped for life after Macalester.
