Why did you choose to attend Macalester?

Macalester first stood out to me for its quirky admissions mail, international focus, and location in a city. I arrived on campus weeks before decision time, met my coach, teammates, and a whole bunch of students from around the world and decided I wanted to spend 4 years with this group of people.

What has your experience at Macalester meant to you so far?

I have learned so much inside and outside the classroom from exploring the Twin Cities to going to events on campus. I have created long lasting relationships with professors and peers and am really excited for the career path I have discovered in my time here.

How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?

Student Athletes add an extra commitment to their busy schedules because they love what they do. I don't think of the time commitment as a burden but as a stress reliever. It has taught me so much about keeping my body healthy - both mentally and physically fit. Having a great group of women and men surrounding you provides a unique support network at Mac and they have helped me better understand myself.

How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?

Every day I actively fuel my body and mind to accomplish both athletic and academic goals. I have to balance my classes, practices, and work schedule and this has taught me a lot about time management. I hope to carry over the motivation and goal setting I get from running to my jobs and internships. My experience as a teammate has taught me to love and work for something bigger than myself and be an effective leader. This experience as a whole will help me work towards my career goals and help me land my first job.
