Why did you choose to attend Macalester?

I chose Macalester because of the academic rigor and the opportunity to compete at the NCAA Division III level. I really enjoy the small campus feel while being in the middle of an big city. There is always something to do!

What has your experience at Macalester meant to you so far?

I love all the resources Macalester provides for its students. It is great to have professors, mentors and coaches that challenge you and want you to succeed. I am very grateful that I have been able to make these relationships at Mac. Because of it, I feel I have become a better leader and learned to be a more self-disciplined and responsible individual.

How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?

Being a student-athlete at Macalester has taught me how to balance basketball and academics yet succeed in both. Because a busy schedule comes with being a student athlete, I have learned to manage my time wisely and not be afraid to ask for help. I have also found a leadership role in helping younger players get acquainted to the student-athlete lifestyle.

How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?

Being a student athlete at Macalester has taught me time management skills and how to balance classes, homework, practice, games, work, and volunteering. Aside from learning to balance my busy schedule, the diverse atmosphere of Macalester has prepared me for my future by giving me the skills to be a leader, think critically, and communicate effectively. I hope to attend a graduate program in Physician Assistant studies and I believe the courses I have taken and the relationships I have made have prepared me for this role.
