Why I chose Macalester:
“I decided to attend Macalester because it's a top liberal arts college with all the advantages of being in an urban environment. The strength of the international studies department along with the great international student body were also great aspects. On my visit I felt very comfortable and obviously the support the soccer team gets is great.”
What Macalester has meant to me so:
"After working all summer with five and six year olds I look forward to leaving the 9 to 5 lifestyle behind and rejoining my team and classmates at Macalester. I have formed a close bond to many people at Macalester over my first year and have come to expect and thrive of off the competitive athletic atmosphere and challenging academic coursework. Furthermore I have survived the better part of a Minnesota Winter, the only side effect being the pale tone I found to be the color of my skin! I am anticipating a lot of work, a lot of fun and a bit of British accent, I’m sure I won’t be disappointed."
Macalester through Junior Year:
"In my third year at Macalester I am hoping for and working towards my most successful season at Macalester yet. I come into this season with the unique advantage of having recently spent a month at altitude doing trail work and receiving academic credit in Colorado in the front range near Colorado Springs. I like the intensity that preseason demands, and the opportunity to focus exclusively on soccer, the betterment of self, and most importantly the betterment of our team. In addition to what I think will be a very successful season I look forward to another year of stimulating academics, quality friends, and hopefully for the first time a spring semester spent studying abroad. At Macalester I have found that if you are dedicated to something you can receive institutional support, be that in athletics, academics or other areas. Most importantly however I am ready to leave my all on the field, knowing that my teammates are ready and willing to do the same."
How Macalester Soccer has prepared me for life after graduation:
My life as a student-athlete has prepared me to manage various demanding areas of my life successfully. My work-ethic and dedication to doing things well have been fostered by Macalester on and off the field. I'll leave Macalester a more confident and able individual than I arrived, in no small part to the men's soccer team and the college we proudly represent.
