Biography

Why I chose Macalester:
"I chose Mac for a variety of reasons, academic and otherwise. But in terms of soccer, what stood out for me was fan attendance and all around interest from the student body. Macalester is a soccer school first; all other sports come second, including football, and you just can't get that at very many other places."

What Macalester has meant to me so far ('08):
"My freshman year at Mac was very positive all around, from the soccer team, to the academics, to the social scene. The soccer season was very fun, I learned a lot by playing in the MIAC, and I think we will be much improved this upcoming year. I am also very excited for the new athletic center that will be ready for us when we arrive. It will not only allow us access to training facilities throughout the season and into the winter, but there will also be a buzz around campus and everyone will be thinking about athletics. That combined with five Friday night home games leads me to believe there will be some big crowds and a lot of wins at home this season."

What Macalester has meant to me so far ('09):
"As I look forward to the junior year ahead of me I am excited to be returning to Mac once again. Because of its small size Macalester is a very tight knit community and this has become more apparent with each year on campus. As a junior it is hard to walk anywhere on campus without spotting someone you know or someone you’ve had a class with. The campus is vibrant with new freshman life, well-kept grass, and new buildings. The soccer team looks as promising as it has been during my time at Macalester and the classes I am taking are more challenging and involved. So while my first two years at Macalester were great, the one in front of me is shaping up to be the best so far."

Macalester through Senior Year:
"What great things are there left to say about Macalester soccer that haven’t already been said by multiple alumnus in the past? Everything about the program is positive, from the fun atmosphere at practice to the winning attitude on the pitch. Our coach Ian Barker is a phenomenal soccer mind and an extremely entertaining personality. Hundreds of fans stream into night games under the lights, chanting rousing ditties in support of their friends on the soccer team, while we do our best to entertain them. Even the parents of players on the team are friends with each other by the end of the year, after bonding in the stands at each game. As a senior captain, I would say, come to Macalester and play soccer, you will have a great time."
