Why I chose Macalester:
"When I was deciding on a college, it became obvious that there were some things that every college would brag about, but didn't make them unique. Every college says they have great professors, outstanding meal plans, fast internet access, and a beautiful campus. I chose Macalester because of what sets it apart: its rigorous academic program, outstanding internship and study abroad opportunities, and global perspective. Soccer was a secondary concern, but I look forward to intercollegiate athletics as an enhancer to my college experience."
What Macalester has meant to me so far:
“I grew a lot at Mac over the last year. Between the harder classes, new independence, and shrinking free time, I knew that the challenge of college was unlike anything I'd experienced before. Soccer really helped me through the hectic transition, and it was great to immediately meet some great friends. I look forward to this next season and school year with high hopes both in and out of the classroom; my courses sound interesting and challenging, and there is a tangible feeling of excitement surrounding what this team can accomplish on the field. In both studies and soccer, Macalester has shown me that the sky's the limit.”
What Macalester has meant to me so far ('09):
"After two years of the Macalester experience, I can still confidently say that I’ve made the right choice of college. The academics have been rigorous but not overwhelming, and all of my classes have challenged me to think more critically, creatively, and broadly. The soccer program has given me an invaluable network of friends, coaches, fans, and resources that has been there whenever I’ve needed a helping hand."
Macalester through Senior Year:
"I'm continuing to enjoy every moment of my Macalester experience, from classes, to soccer, to friends from around the world. As graduation approaches and the "real world" looms large, I'm not sure exactly what I'll be doing. But, thanks to the great education I've been provided with and the multitude of potential post-graduate paths (internships, law school, travel), I look to the future with confidence, knowing that I am prepared. In the meantime, I'll keep enjoying the enthusiastic crowds, great teammates, and nurturing atmosphere of Macalester."
