Why I chose Macalester:
"I choose Macalester for many reasons. The level of academic difficulty was very important, as was the great location in the middle of St. Paul . Most importantly however was the sense of community I have witnessed at Macalester. The people here share a common respect for everyone else and everyone seems to get along. (I also love watching the soccer games, the fans are great.)"

What Macalester has meant to me so far ('08):
“It is a beautiful moment in one's life when the first year of college (a year of sweat and toil, late nights and caffeine) is finally over. Even more beautiful is when you realize that you cannot wait for more. This is the Macalester effect. From Friday night games with roaring fans to the bright red "A" at the top of an essay about International Human Rights my freshman year at Mac has appeared as only an hors d'oeuvres to tempt my appetite for the next three years.”

Macalester through my Junior Year:
"The past two years at Mac have been wonderful. Although classes have grown more difficult I have had twice as much fun. At this point I know most of the people on campus (benefit of a small school) and have started to form strong connections. This last summer I was able to work with a professor in his lab doing research which was a very rewarding experience and I know the relationship will serve me well in the future. Opportunities like this happen all over Macalester's campus, providing students with a chance to experience possible career options. Macalester is an amazing place to meet people and grow."

Macalester through my Senior Year:
"Three years in with one more to go and I have never been so excited. My time spent at Macalester has been an amazing rewarding experience. I have seen immense change in myself over the last three years as I have grown better oriented as both a person and a student. Macalester has provided me with a level of education that most people in the world will never have in a manner that is engaging and exceptionally fun. The friendships that I have made will last me a lifetime and it has been an experience that I will never forget."
