Men’s Soccer: Big Second Half Lifts Macalester Past Nebraska Wesleyan, 2-0

ST. PAUL, Minn. – A pair of second-half goals helped the Macalester College men's soccer team defeat Nebraska Wesleyan University, 2-0 in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon at John Leaney Field at Macalester Stadium. The Scots improve to 5-1 with their fourth shutout of the season, while the Prairie Wolves (1-1-3) lose for the first time in 2025.

After a scoreless first half, Macalester was able to break through in the 53rd minute. Junior midfielder Kasdan Blattman (San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine) dribbled towards the end line to the right of the goal and sent a cross to the left side, where senior defender Nick Kent (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park) volleyed it home for a 1-0 lead. The Scots were able to get an insurance goal late, with first year midfielder Milan Shah (Chicago, Ill./Francis W. Parker) heading in a free kick from Blattman in the 89th minute. The goal is the second of the season for Shah, coming on Blattman's team-leading fourth assist in six games.

Junior goalkeeper Drew Moseman (St. Paul, Minn./Central) started and made two saves while playing the first half. First year goalkeeper Justin Ratner (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) played the second half and recorded one save to preserve the shutout. Macalester held an 11-8 edge in shots.

The Scots begin MIAC play on Saturday, Sept. 20 at No. 22 St. Olaf. The game starts at 1:00 p.m. in Northfield, Minn.
