ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team ended their season with a close 5-4 lost to the Wildcats of St. Catherine this afternoon in the MIAC Playoff Quarterfinals. The Scots end their season with a record of 11-7, 6-4 MIAC.
The Scots battled for two tough earned doubles points. At No. 2 doubles, sophomores
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) and
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) beat their opponents 8-7 (7-2 tiebreaker). Slated at third doubles, senior
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and junior
Megan Twomey (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) defeated their opponent 8-7 (7-3 tiebreaker). The Wildcats took the point at No. 1 doubles.
Haugen took down her opponent at No. 5 singles in two sets, 6-1, 6-2. Senior
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) earned the point at third singles in a hard-fought three set match (6-3, 1-6, 6-3). The Wildcats earned the points at first, second, fourth, and sixth singles.
This marks the last competition for seniors Ulrich, Reynolds,
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park), and
Talia Chait (Lexington, Mass./Lexington).
