ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team took on the Norse of Luther College in a non-conference match today. The Norse (8-2, 2-0 ARC) proved to be a difficult matchup, and the Scots fell 9-0. Macalester is now 2-3, 1-0 MIAC.
Slated at No. 2 singles, junior
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) fell in a hard-fought three set match. Doi won the first set 7-6 (8-6 tiebreaker). However, he fell 6-2 in the next set and 1-0 (11-9 tiebreaker) in the third set. Fellow junior
Liam Lynch (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) also battled to a three-set match at No. 3 singles. Lynch took the first set 6-2, but fell 6-1 and 1-0 (10-4 tiebreaker).
At No. 2 doubles, juniors
Alec Sargent (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century) and
Owen Lindstrom (Hanover, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) battled to an 8-7 (7-1 tiebreaker) loss.
Macalester's next match will be Sunday March 3. The Scots will return to MIAC play against St. Scholastica at 1:30 pm in Duluth, Minn.
