WINONA, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team traveled to Winona today to compete against Saint Mary's. Macalester walked away with an 8-1 conference victory. The Scots are now 7-5 (3-1 MIAC).
Senior
Anton Korolev (Moscow, Russia/Weil) and sophomore
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) paired at No. 2 doubles and eased to an 8-1 victory. At third doubles, sophomore
Lucas Wood (Urbana, Ill./University Lab School) and junior
Lewis Jolly (Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell) won 8-5, while senior
Matthew Sullivan (Tacoma, Wash./Weil) and sophomore
Alec Sargent (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century) defeated their opponents 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.
Sullivan and Korolev both forced their singles matches into three sets. Sullivan won 3-6, 6-0, 10-7 at first singles while Korolev won 3-6, 6-4, 10-4 at third singles. Doi and senior
Josh Marine (Honolulu, Hawaii/Summit) won at second and fifth singles respectively, both winning one of their sets 6-1, and the other 6-2. Wood earned the point at fourth singles (6-4, 7-6). The Cardinals took the point at sixth singles.
The Scots' next match will be Tuesday April 4 against Hamline. The match will start at 3:00 p.m. in Minneapolis.
